This is the first Garmin satnav I have had and am generally very impressed with the maturity of this technology. Very slick indeed.
It was superb for me, driving from Wigan to Portsmouth, also excellent getting me through France from Caen to La Rochelle on the main roads - giving the correct junction and turning information in a flawless and timely manner. Where it is less strong in France at least, I don't know about the UK, is with it's handling of one way systems. Several times whilst driving in local towns it has tried to send me down a one way street! It recovers quickly though and seems tries then redirect me along a different route. Whenever it makes such a mistake or finds you deviating from it's suggested route I think the general default seems to be find another route - which has worked well. You can also allow the option to permit u turns which could be useful at times I suppose too..
It also has had one or two problems with newer roundabouts - the key here is to always look at the distance, displayed clearly, to the turn off, that helps a lot.
Overall - an excellent device - I did think about a 4 star review but really it is worth 5 - on even 6 sometimes for the stress it prevents, I have never felt I would get lost with the unit. Just remember to use common sense with it.
